Sarah Scalese serves as Syracuse University's Vice President for Communications. In this role she reports to the Chief of Staff and Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, supporting him in leading the Division of Communications and Marketing. Her work includes providing leadership and strategic counsel on university communications and marketing, including enrollment marketing, executive communications, media relations, content strategy, crisis and issues management, and institutional messaging across academic affairs, athletics and public safety. She also advises the Chancellor, Provost, and other University leaders, and leads a team of marketing communications professionals responsible for the University's reputation management and response to complex and high-profile issues.
Sarah joined the Syracuse University community in 2014 as director of communications for the College of Arts and Sciences, the University's largest college. Prior to Syracuse, Sarah worked in public relations agencies serving higher education and corporate clients, and began her career in broadcast news.
At Syracuse, Sarah serves on the University Leadership Team, the Women in Leadership Steering Committee, and the Board of the Syracuse University Catholic Center.
Sarah earned her B.A. in Communications from Jacksonville University, where she was an NCAA Division I student-athlete in women's soccer.
Sarah is Orange by marriage; she is married to a 2004 Syracuse University alumnus, and together they have one daughter.
